Overview

Trapped (Maresa von Stockert / Tilted Productions, 2008/09) is a multidisciplinary dance-theatre work exploring surveillance, control, and psychological tension. Von Stockert’s choreography transforms abstract concepts into precise, expressive movement, balancing tightly structured ensemble patterns with moments of chaotic release. Jeremy Cox’s inventive score blends industrial and found-object sounds, interacting seamlessly with the movement to heighten atmosphere and narrative impact. The set evokes a constricted, labyrinthine environment, actively shaping the performers’ movement and reinforcing the work’s immersive, tense world.

Like Nobody’s Business (2002) is a short, highly physical dance‑theatre work by Maresa von Stockert that uses ensemble movement and mechanical motifs to explore human behaviour in a mechanised world. Featuring compelling choreography for four male dancers, a striking score by Jeremy Cox, and a design-driven stage world, the piece blends rhythmic physicality with thematic resonance. It premiered at the Laban Centre and later evolved into Polystyrene Dreamsfor Phoenix Dance’s touring repertoire.
